Perez is currently a Machine Learning Engineer at Intuit, a global financial software company serving over 100 million customers worldwide, where she works on large-scale production ML systems. She is also an active researcher in Natural Language Processing and a member of the Masakhane research collective, a pan-African open research organisation with over 1,000 contributors focused on advancing NLP for low-resource languages. Her academic work has received over 1,000 citations, with an h-index of 11, and she has published at leading international venues including ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, WMT, and Interspeech. In addition, she is a recipient of the US EB-1A (Extraordinary Ability) immigrant visa, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence in their professional field.

Perez is also the Chief Technology Officer and a co-founder of Souma.
